New Guidelines for Remote Desktop Users

In an effort to reduce vulnerabilities and keep the university network secure, Information Technology Services is asking Windows Remote Desktop users to initiate a Virtual Private Network (VPN) session before connecting remotely. This simple step, requiring users to login with a UARK username and password, encrypts the session’s data and keeps it private while traveling on public networks.

To begin a VPN session before connecting to Remote Desktop, log in at vpn.uark.edu. At first login, users will be prompted to install a utility, selecting "allow" or "run" to continue. Users may then connect via Remote Desktop as usual once a VPN session has been initiated. More information is available by selecting Virtual Private Network at techarticles.uark.edu/toc.
