sUgAR Gallery hosts student exhibition
The University of Arkansas student-run sUgAR gallery welcomes a new exhibition Thursday, Jan. 19, entitled US, An Undergraduate Salon. The exhibit features the drawings, paintings, prints, ceramics, sculptures, photographs and designs of about 25 University of Arkansas art students created in the fall 2011 semester.
“I was very impressed with the ceramic works and inspired by some of the self-portraits that the students from the advanced drawing class submitted,” said Kat Wilson, a student gallery director. “My favorite piece has to be the sculpture by Robert Lemming called Reclining Venus. It’s made of terra cotta, acrylic, paint and mixed media. It’s a very striking piece.”
A reception honoring the featured artists will be held at 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 20, at the gallery, located at 114 W. Central Ave., Bentonville,. Admission is free and open to the public
