Haunted Physics Lab on Saturday
The Society of Physics Students will present the Haunted Physics Lab, physics fun for all ages, from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, on the first floor of the Physics Building. This free yearly event makes science fun by presenting spooky hands-on physics demonstrations.
Children of all ages will make speakers and magnets, see a Tesla Coil, watch demonstrations involving liquid nitrogen, see sound waves by sprinkling sand on a vibrating place, and become electrified with a Van de Graaff generator. Special demonstrations will be held every hour. Liquid nitrogen ice cream will be provided to all attendees. The event is completely free and appropriate for children of all ages.
The Physics Building is at 825 W. Dickson St. on the University of Arkansas campus near the intersection of Duncan Avenue. Free parking on Saturdays is available in the Harmon Avenue Parking Facility.

Interactive music sessions known as "music zoos" bring creative learning of musical instruments to the children in the center, as well as providing the music education students the chance to practice their teaching skills.
New Faculty Teaching Portfolio Authors Recognized
The faculty members successfully completed the Teaching Portfolio and will be recognized at the Fall Teaching Awards ceremony hosted by the Cordes Teaching and Faculty Support Center and the Teaching Academy.
