Goldsby Family Arkansas History Laboratory Dedication at Mullins Library

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The University Libraries will dedicate the Goldsby Family Arkansas History Laboratory in Special Collections in a ceremony at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, in Mullins Library. Thomas and Sandra Goldsby of West Memphis made a $250,000 naming gift for the room that will be used by archival staff to process manuscript collections.

A portion of the gift is earmarked for the purchase of preservation equipment such as an automatic welding machine, which encloses fragile documents in a mylar envelope, a phase box-making machine, which generates form-fitting protective boxes from acid-free boards for fragile books, and a large format scanner and printer to create working copies of oversized documents such as maps and architectural drawings. Thomas Goldsby Jr. is chairman of the board and CEO of Mid-South Mortgage Co. and a member of the University Libraries Campaign for the Twenty-First Century subcommittee. Sandra and Thomas Goldsby Jr. have been major supporters of conservation and wildlife management programs and higher education throughout the region. Light refreshments will be served.
