Harvard Faculty Member To Speak At School Of Architecture

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - An award-winning architect and well-known lecturer from Harvard University will speak at the School of Architecture early next week.

Preston Scott Cohen, of the Harvard University Graduate School of Design, will present "Needless Functionalism" Monday, Nov. 6 at 6 p.m. in Vol Walker Hall, room 103. The lecture is free and open to the public.

Cohen's diverse experience includes design and speculative projects that have won him numerous awards. These include Progressive Architecture Awards in 2000 and 1998, as well as the Young Architect Award in 1992.

Current exhibitions include "The Un-Private House" at the Museum of Modern Art in New York and "Folds, Blobs and Boxes: Architecture in the Digital Era" at the Carnegie Museum of Art. Cohen also participates in numerous national and international independent and group shows. In addition, he lectures extensively about his work in the United States, Austria, England, France, Italy and Mexico.

Prior to joining Harvard University, Cohen taught at Princeton University, Rhode Island School of Design in Rome and Ohio State University.
