Landscape Architect To Discuss Holy Land Projects

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark — The University of Arkansas Department of Landscape Architecture will present a new perspective on the Middle East this Friday by sponsoring a lecture by Judith Green, a UA alumna who has practiced landscape architecture in Israel for the past 25 years. Green has designed parks, streetscapes, neighborhood plans, and master plans for natural areas, and has participated in the restoration and reconstruction of historic sites such as Nativity Square in Bethlehem, Palestine. Recent projects include site design for the Menachem Begin Museum in Jerusalem and for Rosh Maya, a public park in Haifa that includes the archaeological remains of a Crusader castle. Her lecture this Friday will focus on projects developed in the context of political upheaval:

Green graduated from the University of Arkansas School of Architecture in 1974, and subsequently earned a Master's in Architecture from the University of California at Berkeley, where she focused on social and behavioral factors in architecture. Currently she heads the landscape architecture department at Technion University in Haifa and is a senior partner with G.E.O. Architects based in Jerusalem.
