Memo#4—Additional Update on Final Exam Schedule

To: The University of Arkansas Academic Community

From: Bob Smith, Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs

This is a follow-up to my earlier December 14, 2000 memo (#3), containing information on: I.) Anticipated events on Friday, December 15, 2000; II.) Extension of deadline for faculty members relative to grading and the submission of grades.

    1. Regarding events on Friday, December 15, 2000, the previously posted Friday (December 15, 2000) schedule of final exams will be administered. We are removing snow from parking lots and making every effort to facilitate access to the University—anticipating that the University will be open. We hope that faculty members and students, who are involved in final exams for this day, will make every effort to meet their obligations. If staff members experience difficulties traveling to or being at work we encourage your taking annual leave to accommodate your needs.
    2. Regarding the electronic submission of grades, we have extended the deadline from the end of the business day, Friday, December 22, 2000 to 5:00 P.M. Saturday, December 23, 2000 to accommodate difficulties faculty members may experience because of the Sunday, December 17, 2000 final exam schedule now in place. For faculty members who normally submit hardcopy lists of grades to Registrar’s Office, we will have personnel available in Hunt Hall until noon on Saturday, December 23, 2000.

We will greatly appreciate the UA community’s full cooperation in honoring the procedures articulated above. For all students, faculty and staff—please watch our website (http://www.uark.edu/) and be alert to messages on radio and television regarding possible additional advice about scheduling and other information during the next few days.

We will continue to think positive thoughts about all of our students, faculty and staff members during the next few days and wish all in our community a most joyous and safe holiday period.

If there are questions regarding this or my previous memos on this topic, the questions may be directed to me at 479-575-5457 or at my home number: 501-973-4459.

Kind regards.
