Motorcycle 'Parade of Power’ to Stop Traffic on University of Arkansas Campus

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — University of Arkansas students will get a front row seat starting at 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, as thousands of motorcycles roll and roar through the campus for the annual Bikes, Blues and Barbeque “Parade of Power.” But anyone trying to drive on campus during the hour-long parade may want to look for another route. Normal traffic on parts of Razorback Road, Maple Street, Garland Avenue, Dickson Street and numerous cross streets will be affected by the parade.

This is a new route for the parade and the second year for it to cross part of the university. The riders will assemble near the Tyson Track Center on Beechwood Avenue, drive east on 15th Street to Razorback Road, go north on Razorback to Maple Street, east on Maple to Garland Avenue, south on Garland past the Arkansas Union to Dickson Street, then east on Dickson to College Avenue. A map of the route is attached.

The University of Arkansas Police Department will control traffic at the Leroy Pond Drive, Meadow Street and Maple Street intersections along Razorback Road, as well the Stadium Drive and North Garland Avenue intersections on Maple Street. UAPD will also control traffic along Dickson Street at the Garland Avenue, McIlroy Avenue, Harmon Avenue, Duncan Avenue and Arkansas Avenue intersections. Fayetteville police will control traffic along the rest of the parade route.

The motorcycles will use one lane of traffic along the entire parade route so oncoming traffic will not be affected, but cross traffic will be stopped and traffic will not be allowed to intermingle with the parade. Pedestrians will not be able to cross at crosswalks during the parade. These restrictions are likely to be in effect for at least one hour.

Spectators are welcome to watch the procession along the parade route.
