NEW ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR APPOINTED FOR CENTER FOR MANAGEMENT AND EXECUTIVE DEVELOPMENT

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The Center for Management and Executive Development in the Sam M. Walton College of Business, University of Arkansas, has announced that Wendy MacColl has been promoted to associate director for Operations.

Tim Kizer, Director of the Center for Management and Executive Development (CMED), said, "Wendy's leadership skills and innovative thinking will aid CMED in developing more program offerings for executives and managers. She will also manage the programs we offer in the Reynolds Center. "

MacColl joined CMED in March 2002 as an instructional designer. She came to the Center from University of Southern Colorado where she was adjunct faculty for the Center for New Media. She holds a bachelor's degree from Colorado State University and a master's from the University of Colorado at Denver in Administration, Supervision and Curriculum Development, with an emphasis in instructional design and technology. In 2000, she served as an instructional designer at Alliente Inc., a Hewlett-Packard spin-off company specializing in e-procurement software. She taught broadcasting at Pikes Peak Community College in Colorado Springs, and then served as assistant director of Learning Technologies and instructional technologist at the college.

MacColl has over 10 years experience as a radio and television news anchor/reporter in Colorado and Green Bay, Wisconsin. She has won numerous awards for her broadcast endeavors, both on camera and as a producer and editor.

CMED, an outreach program of the Walton College, was founded on the University of Arkansas campus in 1984 to provide professional development for managers and executives. It originally began when the College worked with Sam Walton to develop the Walton Institute.

Kizer said, "CMED connects business and academic communities to meet the challenges of a changing business world. It once delivered seminars for the general business community. Now we have more focused programs that blend traditional instruction with new technologies to increase learning and adapt to different learning styles. Busy executives and managers can take advantage of virtual classrooms and on-line activities."

CMED also manages the Donald W. Reynolds Center for Enterprise Development, which provides an environment of value-added space, state-of-the-art technology and services that supports the delivery of programming and events focusing on enterprise development, technology mediated learning, and outreach alliances. It brings to Northwest Arkansas a space for training events, guest speakers, special educational events, panel discussions, multimedia classes and distance education classes.
