New York Times Columnist Nicholas Kristof to Speak at University of Arkansas
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Renowned New York Times columnist Nicholas Kristof will speak at 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 22, in the Arkansas Union Ballroom. The presentation is sponsored by the University Programs’ Cultures & Concepts Committee.
Kristof, who writes on various global issues, will give an in-depth presentation about globalization and the state of the world. There will also be a question-and-answer session and a book signing afterward.
Kristof is a two-time Pulitzer Prize winner, and won his first Pulitzer with his wife for their coverage of China’s Tiananmen Square democracy movement. He won a second Pulitzer in 2006 for commentary on what the judges called "his graphic, deeply reported columns that, at personal risk, focused attention on genocide in Darfur and that gave voice to the voiceless in other parts of the world."
His columns have often focused on global health, poverty and gender issues in the developing world.
