Nursing Students Inducted into Eleanor Mann School of Nursing Honor Society
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Twelve University of Arkansas nursing students enrolled in the Eleanor Mann School of Nursing were recognized for outstanding scholarship and achievement at an induction ceremony for the Nursing Honor Society last month at the Clarion Hotel in Fayetteville. New members are admitted to the Society for superior quality of academic achievement and must have a minimum GPA of 3.0, rank in the upper 35 percent of their graduating class, and must have completed at least one-half of the nursing courses required for a professional program of study.
"I'm delighted that we have a forum to recognize these outstanding nursing students," said Barbara Conrad, department head of the Eleanor Mann School of Nursing. "These students embody the 'best of the best' of our program - they're sound students with terrific professional futures in front of them."
"All the faculty at the Eleanor Mann School of Nursing are thrilled to congratulate these students on their honorary induction," said Kathleen Barta, an associate nursing professor and president of the Society. "This is the first step for them in a long and distinguished career in nursing - I commend them for their hard work, dedication and professional promise."
Students inducted were: Chad Frederick, Fayetteville; Kelli Jennings, Harrisburg; Angela Lamb, Siloam Springs; Annelle Lofton, Prairie Grove; Amanda Manning, Rogers; Jennifer McBrayer, Fayetteville; Chandra Nelson, Fayetteville; Christi Nelson, Little Rock; Sam Simpson, Russellville; Jodi Spittler, Springdale; Whitney Trice, Stuttgart; and Lyndsay Young, Little Rock.
The Eleanor Mann School of Nursing Honor Society was established in 1994 and inducted five students into its ranks that year. To date, more than 137 students and nursing professionals have joined the Society.
The Eleanor Mann School of Nursing was endowed by Herbert and Eleanor Mann of Bella Vista in 1996 and prepares an average of 35 students per year for professional life for a variety of careers in nursing.
