Public Forum Will Discuss "Hot Topics In Education" After Election Results

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - While the victories and defeats of the November election are still fresh, a panel of educators will be joined by state senator David Malone to discuss "Hot Topics in Education" in a free forum open to the public on the University of Arkansas campus.

Sponsored by the education professional society Phi Delta Kappa in the College of Education and Health Professions (COEHP), the forum will be held just two days after the election on Thursday, Nov. 9, from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. in the auditorium of the Graduate Education Building.

In addition to Senator Malone, panelists include Dr. Betsy Orr, COEHP associate dean for undergraduate studies and student services; Dr. Bobby New, superintendent, Fayetteville Public School System; and Greg Murry, assistant superintendent for business affairs, Springdale Public Schools. After presenting their reactions to education-related amendments and initiatives, panelists will respond to questions from audience members.

Phi Delta Kappa is an international organization of professionals in education dedicated to promoting quality public education particularly publicly supported education, as essential to maintaining the democratic way of life. One of six yearly meetings, the November forum was planned to aid members and guests in understanding the current educational climate in Arkansas.
