Rochelle to Lead Women’s Athletics Development

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Sean Rochelle is the new director of development for Women’s Athletics at the University of Arkansas. Under the leadership of Bev Lewis, director of women’s athletics, Rochelle will manage all fund raising initiatives for Lady Razorback programs.

Lewis said: “We’re looking forward to having Sean join the Lady Razorback staff. With his background in both athletics and development, we believe he will do a great job in coordinating our efforts in fund raising.”

Rochelle earned a bachelor’s degree in physical education from the University of Arkansas-Monticello as well as a master’s degree in higher education and a Doctor of Education in educational leadership from the University of Arkansas. Before returning to Fayetteville in 2006, Rochelle held faculty and staff positions at Azusa Pacific University in southern California for more than five years. He has served as the associate director in the Office of Corporate and Foundation Relations for the past year.

During his time at UA-Monticello, Rochelle was a standout football player. In October 2006, he was inducted into the UA-Monticello Hall of Fame. Rochelle quarterbacked UAM’s team to its only 10-win season in 1988, leading the team to a 10-2 record and the quarterfinals of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Division I playoffs. His 1,674 yards rushing make him the most prolific running quarterback in school history. Rochelle was the Arkansas Intercollegiate Conference co-Offensive Player of the Year in 1988 when he set the UAM single-season scoring record of 98 points, a mark that still stands. He was All-AIC and a first team Academic All-American as chosen by College Sports Information Directors of America in 1988 and a two-time first team NAIA Academic All-American in 1987-88.
