SCHOOL OF ARCHITECTURE FACULTY MEMBER FEATURED ON COVER OF PRESTIGIOUS ARCHITECTURE PUBLICATION

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -Fayetteville architect and University of Arkansas School of Architecture faculty member Marlon Blackwell is featured on the cover of one of the world’s most prestigious architectural publications, Architectural Record.

Blackwell’s work is included as part of an article highlighting inventive architecture across the United States.

"It’s a tremendous honor to be featured in Architectural Record," said Blackwell. "And it shows that architecture of the highest aspirations can be recognized almost anywhere."

The article highlights some of Blackwell’s most interesting projects: an elegant beekeeping facility called the Moore Honey House in Cashiers, NC, the Flynn-Schmidt Barn House in Washington County and the Keenan Tower House in Fayetteville.

Blackwell is heavily influenced by local characteristics. In the article, he emphasizes the importance, as an architect, of familiarizing yourself with an area and allowing existing conditions to help shape your work.

Blackwell was also recently featured in a collection of the most unique residential design in the United States. He has also previously been named as one of architecture’s Emerging Voices and to the 40 UNDER 40 list, which recognizes the next generation of leading American architects and designers.
