Service for Law School Dean, Richard B. Atkinson, To Be Tuesday at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. —  A funeral and memorial service for Richard B. Atkinson, dean of the University of Arkansas School of Law, will take place at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, located at 224 N. East St. A reception in the parish hall located on the north side of the church will follow the funeral service.

Atkinson, 58, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, Aug. 4, while attending the annual American Bar Association meeting in Chicago.

General Parking: Parking is available along East Street and in the parking lot behind St. Paul’s Church, accessible from College Avenue. Overflow parking is available in the First Baptist Church parking lot at the corner of Dickson Street and College Avenue.

Overflow Seating/Accessibility: Seating in St. Paul’s nave is limited to approximately 200. Additional seating will be available in the parish hall, located on the north side of the church. Wheel-chair accessible seating will be available in both the church and the parish hall.

Media Accessibility: Media are asked to maintain a respectful distance outside church entrances to allow mourners unobstructed entry into the building. With regard for the family and loved ones, and at their request, no interviews or photography will be allowed inside the church or the overflow room. Working reporters and broadcasters are asked to conduct their research outside, off church grounds.

Media parking, including space for live trucks with high masts, is available in the First Baptist Church parking lot.
 
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the University of Arkansas School of Law Building Fund, 124C Leflar Law Center, Fayetteville AR 72701; or the Washington Regional Medical Foundation, P.O. Box 356, Fayetteville AR 72702.

Another memorial service celebrating the life and legacy of Richard B. Atkinson is planned for later this fall. Details of that service will be made available once a date, time and location have been determined.
