Two Engineering Teams to Compete in Gunlogson National Design Competition
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The College of Engineering is well represented at the 2008 American Society for Biological and Agricultural Engineering’s Gunlogson National Student Design Competition. Three teams from across the nation are invited to the competition each year. This year, two of the three teams invited to the competition are from the College of Engineering’s biological and agricultural engineering department. These teams will present their projects at the American Society for Biological and Agricultural Engineering’s annual international meeting on June 30 in Providence, R.I.
The first team design project is “Design of a Continuous Flow Process for Biodiesel Production.” This team includes Ashley Wiedower, Aung Khaing and Jacob Irwin. Julie Carrier, associate professor in biological and agricultural engineering, serves as the team mentor.
The second team design project is “Hydrologic and Ecological Engineering Design for a Green Residential Development.” This team includes Jeff Burns, David Gershner and Russell Tate. Marty Matlock, associate professor in biological and agricultural engineering, serves as the team mentor.
The teams will compete for first, second or third place during the week. The rankings will be announced at the 2008 American Society for Biological and Agricultural Engineering’s Annual International Awards Ceremony on July 2.
