UA Alumnus Establishes Honors Fellowship In Walton College

Fayetteville, Ark. - J.W. and Emily Jo McAllister have contributed more than $500,000 to establish the McAllister Honors College Fellowships in Business in the Sam M. Walton College of Business, University of Arkansas.

"The Honors Program in the Walton College will be greatly strengthened by the McAllisters' generous gift," said Dean Doyle Z. Williams. "We are grateful for the McAllisters and their support of the accounting department, the Walton College and the University of Arkansas."

Mr. McAllister earned his B.S.B.A. in accounting in 1960. He is also a graduate of Stanford University's Executive Program. While at the University of Arkansas, Mr. McAllister was a member of Sigma Nu and president of Beta Alpha Psi and Beta Gamma Sigma. He previously worked with Holiday Corporation in Memphis, Tenn., and was vice president of Harrah's Entertainment Inc. before his retirement. He is currently treasurer and a member of the board of directors of the Memphis Symphony Orchestra and president of the board of directors of Hospitality Federal Credit Union, Memphis, Tenn.

Mrs. McAllister received a B.S.E. (Music) in 1960 from the university and holds an M.Mus. in organ performance from the University of Memphis. She is currently music associate/organist at Germantown Presbyterian Church, Germantown, Tenn.

This gift counts toward the campaign-within-a-campaign to raise $300 million for academic purposes to match the Walton Family Charitable Support Foundation's $300 million gift. The $300 Million Challenge must raise funds between Jan. 1, 2002, and June 30, 2005, the end of the Campaign. The Challenge total stands at $204.9 million, and the overall Campaign total stands at $839.5 million as of Sept. 30, 2004.
