UNIVERSITY OF ARKANSAS ANNOUNCES SUCCESSFUL MERCHANTS FAIR TO KICK OFF FALL 2003 SEMESTER

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The Office for Student Involvement & Leadership held it’s annual Merchants’ Fair on Wednesday, August 27 and Thursday, August 28 from 10:00am to 2:00pm each day. The Merchants’ Fair is the only time merchants are permitted on campus to promote their business directly to university students. This year’s event featured more than 40 local businesses, non-profit organizations, and university departments. The merchants displayed their products; provide discount coupons, and free samples to over 3000 students, faculty, and staff each day. The businesses ranged from area pizza companies, restaurants, phone companies, salons, and real estate management agencies.

The proceeds raised from this event help supplement the budget for our leadership and volunteerism programs offered throughout the year. Some of these programs include:

  • Emerging Leaders
  • University Leadership Retreat
  • Make A Difference Day
  • Student’s Day of Caring
