University of Arkansas Gifted and Talented Scholars Program to Host Convocation Ceremony

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The University of Arkansas Gifted and Talented Scholars program will host its first Convocation ceremony at10 a.m., Saturday, March 27. The GTScholars Convocation will be held at Bud Walton Arena on the University of Arkansas campus. Chancellor John A. White will deliver the ceremony’s opening remarks.

In fall 2003, students from Arkansas were nominated by local educators to be considered for the GTScholars program. Convocation is an induction ceremony, recognizing students in grades 6 -12 selected for membership.

In order to receive an invitation for membership into the GTScholars program, students must meet two or more of the requirements concerning standardized test scores, grade-point average in honors course work, class rank, National Honor Society membership, identification and participation in local gifted program, or participation in nationally recognized talent identification programs.

Afternoon events include a University Expo held at the Arkansas Union Alltel Ballroom featuring representatives from all UA colleges and schools. Scholars and their families will also have the opportunity to take a campus tour sponsored by the Office of Admissions and the College of Engineering and attend the Razorback baseball game at Baum Stadium.
