University of Arkansas Hosts Luncheon to Kick Off 2004 United Way Campaign

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The University of Arkansas is pleased to announce that its annual United Way luncheon to kick off the 2004 campaign will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 21, at the University House.

Last year, the university exceeded its goal, raising more than $120,000, and Juana Young, co-chairperson for the 2004 United Way Campaign, feels this year's goal of $125,000 is well within reach.

"University employees have consistently demonstrated their caring and commitment to United Way member agencies through the years," Young said. "We are united in our efforts to ease the way of individuals and families in need throughout Washington County."

Ninety-nine percent of the funds raised will remain in Washington County, with 83 percent of the contributions directly supporting more than 30 non-profit agencies serving the county's communities.

Speakers for this year's luncheon include Chancellor John A. White, Washington County United Way Co-Chair Larry Manry and members of the Washington County United Way.

Media are encouraged to attend. University House is located on Maple Street, across from the UA School of Law. Parking is available in the UA parking garage, accessible from Stadium Drive.
