University of Arkansas Names Seabrooks Assistant Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The University of Arkansas and the division of Student Affairs are pleased to announce that Dr. Joseph Seabrooks Jr. has been named the new assistant vice chancellor for Student Affairs. Seabrooks joined the university on Feb. 7, and his salary is $91,000.
“Joseph Seabrooks has exhibited a passion for student success and development through his previous work,” said Dr. Johnetta Cross Brazzell, vice chancellor for Student Affairs. “I am confident that that same passion plus his visionary, creative energy will greatly enhance the work we are engaged in here at the University of Arkansas.”
The assistant vice chancellor for Student Affairs supervises units including the Enhanced Learning Center (Student Support Services), First Year Experience Programs (Orientation, ROCK Camps & Convocation), International Students & Scholars, Office for Non-Traditional & Commuter Students, and Pre-College Programs (College Project, Upward Bound, Educational Talent Search, Youth Opportunities Unlimited, Math/Science Academy, Veterans Upward Bound, REAL Upward Bound, Gifted & Talented Scholars).
“My family and I are so grateful for the warmth and kindness that we have received upon our arrival; rarely in our lives have we ever felt as welcomed and supported,” Seabrooks said. “We are looking forward to becoming active members of this community.”
Prior to joining the university, he served as the executive director for Diversity in Action at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. He holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology, a master’s and educational specialist’s degree in higher education management and a doctorate in interdisciplinary urban leadership and policy study and education, all earned at UM-Kansas City.
