University of Arkansas Office of Admissions Receives Three Admissions Advertising Awards

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The University of Arkansas Office of Admissions was recognized in several categories in the 23rd Annual Admissions Advertising Awards.

The Office of Admissions took the top honor in the outdoor transit/billboard category for a billboard off of Interstate 44 in Tulsa, Okla. A picture of the billboard is available online at http://admissions.uark.edu/downloads/billboard.php.

The office won the silver award in the video/CDROM view book category. A collaborative effort between the Office of Admissions and Division of Student Affairs, UA Productions, the University’s student-produced video view book, “Get to Know the U of A,” offers prospective students a guided tour of its campus. The video is available online at http://admissions.uark.edu/ipod/.

Admissions also received a merit award for its student view book. Designed by John Baltz, assistant director of admissions for communications, the view book is received by high school seniors and highlights programs and campus life at the University of Arkansas. The view book is available online at http://admissions.uark.edu/forms/ArkansasUnivViewbook.pdf.

Dawn S. Medley, director of admissions, said, “I am very proud of the admissions team and its work with the students who contributed to our success. I see the wonderful work done by our team each day, and it is rewarding that the group’s efforts are being recognized publicly. Although many institutions submitted work created by advertising firms on their behalf, each of our entries was created by the talented staff in our office. That the office received an award in each category it participated in is truly an honor.”

Starting in 1975 the Admissions Advertising Awards, the nation’s largest competition for educational advertising, are sponsored by Admissions Marketing Report: a national newsletter for admissions professionals in marketing and advertising. More than 1,000 institutions submitted entries for consideration. A national panel of admissions professionals as well as the editorial board of Admissions Marketing Report selected winners in each category, comparing institutions with similar student bodies.
