UNIVERSITY OF ARKANSAS TO HOST CELEBRATION RECOGNIZING FUND-RAISING EFFORTS FOR UNITED WAY CAMPAIGN
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The University of Arkansas will host a celebration recognizing the efforts of more than 900 individuals and on-campus organizations during the 2003 United Way Campaign. The event will take place at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 18, in Rooms 510-511 of the Arkansas Union.
The university set a new record for total contributions to the United Way by raising $127,194.65, surpassing its 2003 goal by more than $8,000. More than 100 faculty and staff volunteers contributed to the success of this year’s campaign.
UA students also provided support by working with local organizations to raise more than $5,000 through Casino Night, the Haunted House and the Brat Wagon.
"Student involvement improved dramatically and made a real difference in this year’s campaign," UA United Way co-chair Bill Warnock said "It was encouraging to see these students pull together for such a wonderful goal with the United Way. Their dedication really helped put us over the top."
Chancellor John A. White and the university community will be joined by members of the United Way of Washington County, and an awards ceremony recognizing the contributions of campus organizations will take place during the celebration.
An audio mult-box will be provided for electronic media. Parking will be available in the UA parking deck, accessible from Stadium Drive, and in Lot 44, located at the corner of Maple Street and Razorback Road.
