Wallace Forbes Visits College of Engineering

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Mack-Blackwell World Transportation Center will present guest lecturer Wallace Forbes, the president of the Forbes Investors Advisory Institute, at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 23 in Bell Engineering Center, room 2282. Forbes will present a brief talk titled “Engineers Have a World Full of Opportunity.” Following the presentation, he will open the floor to questions on topics ranging from engineering opportunities to the current global economic situation.

Forbes, the youngest son of the founder of Forbes Magazine, is the president of the Forbes Investors Advisory Institute, the division of Forbes Media that publishes the Forbes Special Situation Survey, Forbes Growth Investor and the Forbes Stock Market Course.He has alsoserved as vice president and director of the Forbes company.

Forbes has authored or co-authored articles on the valuation of business enterprises and related subjects that have appeared in various business and professional publications, including Harvard Business Review, Business Horizons, Monthly Digest of Tax Articles, Management World, Family Advocate, YPO Enterprise, Chief Executive and The Business Valuation Handbook.

After graduating from Princeton University with a degree in civil engineering, he served for five years in the U.S. Navy. When he left the Navy, Forbes attended Harvard Business School. Upon graduation, he was appointed a research associate in investment management and became a member of the Harvard Business School faculty.

Forbes is a member of the New York Society of Security Analysts and holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.
