Walton College Announces New Director

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The Sam M. Walton College of Business, University of Arkansas, has announced the appointment of Théres W. Stiefer to the position of director of the Center for Management and Executive Development.

Stiefer will report to Don Bland, senior managing director of outreach. She was previously director of the Walton College Career Development Center and associate director of the University of Arkansas Career Development Center.

“In her new role, Théres will be responsible for the overall development, marketing and delivery of management and executive education programs in support of the business community in Arkansas and around the world,” said Bland. “She brings a unique combination of education, experience and leadership skills to the job. She has conducted numerous programs and conferences for both college students and business organizations and is much sought after as a speaker in the area of career development.”

Stiefer is also in demand to present a workshop titled “Creating and Cultivating the Spirit of Celebration at Work,” which is focused on humor in the workplace. Prior to joining the University of Arkansas, Stiefer was director, founder and developer of the Career Development Center at Cameron University, Lawton, Okla. She holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in behavioral science from Cameron University. She has completed all but her dissertation for an educational doctorate in higher education leadership from the University of Arkansas. She, her husband John and their daughter Mahdi reside in Fayetteville.

The Center for Management and Executive Development began as the Walton Institute in 1983 and was officially organized in the Walton College in 1984. Since that time, the Center has been conducting management and executive programs designed to enhance professionals’ knowledge and skills to deal with a demanding, ever-changing workplace.
