Walton College Dean Selected to International Accreditation Board

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Dan L. Worrell, dean of the Sam M. Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas, had been appointed to the maintenance of accreditation committee for the AACSB International, the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.

Organized in 1916, AACSB International is the premier accrediting agency for bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degree programs in business administration and accounting around the world. The organization is a not-for-profit corporation of more than 450 educational institutions, corporations and other organizations devoted to the promotion and improvement of higher education in business administration and management.

Worrell will be joined on the maintenance of accreditation committee by business deans from universities, including Emory University, University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, University of California-Berkeley, Howard University, University of St. Gallen (Switzerland), ESADE Business School (Barcelona, Spain), and United Arab Emirates University.

“I am very honored to be included on this committee,” said Worrell. “This appointment will be not only a learning experience for us in business school best practices, but will also provide positive exposure for the University of Arkansas and the Walton College.”

Worrell came to the University of Arkansas in the fall of 2005. Prior to joining the Walton College, Worrell served as the dean of the College of Business and Administration at Southern Illinois University-Carbondale for six years.

The Walton College was accredited by the forerunner organization of the AACSB International in 1931 and has maintained continuous accreditation since then.
