Higher Education Students Receive Scholarships

Two higher education graduate students at the University of Arkansas were awarded scholarships to attend the annual meeting of the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators in Chicago next month.

Tamara St. Marthe, a doctoral student, and Chase Stoudenmire, a master's student, received the scholarships from The Higher Education Organization (THEO), a registered student organization on the University of Arkansas campus.

"THEO is excited to work with Associated Student Government to provide conference scholarships for students," said Allison Black, a master's degree-seeking student in the higher education program and president of THEO. Black noted that students submitted essays describing financial need and the impact of conference attendance on their professional development and that a panel of graduate students reviewed the applications.

The National Association of Student Personnel Administrators is the leading national association for individuals working in the field of student affairs and student advocacy. The annual meeting typically has an attendance of more than 5,000 people, and Black indicated that University of Arkansas will send about 15 graduate students to the conference.
