Professor Andrew Proctor, Food Science

The American Oil Chemists' Society has named Andrew Proctor, professor of food science in Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences, as the recipient of the 2010 Herbert J. Dutton Award. The award is presented to a scientist who has made significant contributions to the analysis of fats and oils, or for work that has resulted in major advances in the understanding of processes utilized in the fats and oils industry. The award includes a plaque and a $1,000 honorarium.

Proctor has been a member of AOCS since 1984. He has been a senior associate editor of the Journal of the AOCS since 2001 and was previously an associate editor since 1992. He serves on a number of AOCS committees and is currently pioneering a new Lipid Educators Common Interest Group to support networking and communication among professors and instructors.
