Duncan Avenue Apartments was the first University of Arkansas building to earn the Green Globes distinction from the Green Building Initiative.

The Duncan Avenue Apartments and the adjacent Duncan Avenue Community Center, the first University of Arkansas construction projects to earn the Green Globes distinction for its energy efficiency and environmentally friendly design, were a featured case study in a new book designed to help homeowners, developers and property owners understand the myriad green building rating systems used today. Green Globes is administered by the nonprofit organization the Green Building Initiative.

The book, Guide to Green Building Rating Systems by Linda Reeder AIA, is billed as the one-stop guide for choosing a green-building rating system. Such systems include LEED (or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design), Green Globes, Energy Star, the National Green Building Standard and others.

The Duncan Avenue Apartments and Community Center were designed and contracted by Allison Architects Inc., Little Diversified Architectural Consulting and Flintco Inc. Guide to Green Building Rating Systems is published by John Wiley and Sons Inc.
