Kinesiology Professor Named Fellow of American College of Sports Medicine
Heidi Kluess
Heidi Kluess, University of Arkansas assistant professor of kinesiology, has been named a Fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine.
Kluess, who joined the faculty of the College of Education and Health Professions in 2007, will be recognized in June at a formal reception for new fellows at the American College of Sports Medicine annual meeting in Baltimore. Advancement to Fellow is an opportunity to assume a leadership role and serve as a mentor to new members, according to the letter informing Kluess of the distinction.
The ACSM Web site states that the objectives of the fellowship also include recognizing professional achievement in the related disciplines of sports medicine, promoting professional development and encouraging high standards of professional responsibility and service.
Kluess teaches in the university's exercise science program, and her research focuses on the role of the sympathetic nervous system in the control of blood flow. This includes changes in vascular control with aging, sex, and under various environmental conditions. She earned her doctorate from Louisiana State University.
