University of Arkansas Launches ‘Razors EDGE’ Web Site

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The University of Arkansas and Energy Systems Group announced today the launch of the Razors EDGE Web site. The trademarked Web site can be found through the university's department of facilities management, the university's sustainability page or the Energy Systems Group Web site.

The “EDGE” in the program’s name is an acronym for “Efficiently Delivering Green Energy.” The Razors EDGE Web site will provide students, faculty and staff with timely information regarding construction schedules, program benefits and training on use of the new equipment and controls.

In December 2008, the university awarded a $21.3 million contract to Energy Systems Group to make energy saving improvements to 56 buildings on the Fayetteville campus. The Razors EDGE program is designed to reduce annual energy consumption by 30 percent, with a guarantee that energy savings over a 13-year period will cover the cost of building improvements.

The Razors EDGE program will make key energy conservation improvements to the buildings on campus over the next two years. Renovations will include the installation of more efficient lighting, heating and cooling systems, water conservation equipment, and installation of a solar-powered heater for the swimming pool in the Health, Physical Education and Recreation Building.
