Project Runway Finalist Korto Momolu Shows Fashions on Runway at the University of Arkansas

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – It will be fierce when Korto Momolu presents some of her fashion designs including handbags, clothing and jewelry on the runway in the Alltel Ballroom in the Arkansas Union on the University of Arkansas campus at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2.

Born in Liberia, West Africa, and now residing in Little Rock, Momolu was the first runner-up finalist on season five of Bravo’s Project Runway. Her designs — exotic, chic, clothing and accessories for women of all shapes and sizes — are influenced by her African roots.

Momolu recently partnered with Little Rock-based label Tre Vero to design an exclusive line of handbags for Dillards. The handbags will debut nationally in at least 100 Dillards stores in the spring of 2010 under the name Tre Vero by Korto Momolu.

The event will feature models from NKC Talent wearing Momolu’s designs including handbags, jewelry and clothing. She will speak directly after the fashion show about her experiences as a designer and being on the show Project Runway. There will be a VIP reception following the lecture, where Momolu will sign autographs and be available for photos with guests. The public is invited to this free event.

The event is sponsored by the Anne Kittrell Art Gallery and the cultures and concepts committee of University Programs. East Meets West Spa & Salon’s Helena Gadyson will provide all hairstyling and makeup. The Anne Kittrell Art Gallery will also be open for guests to view student designs known as “The Wearable Canvas.”
