FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Community service is an important part of the student-athlete experience, and the University of Arkansas Razorbacks and the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee want supporters to join them to help the Southeastern Conference’s Fourth Annual Together We CAN drive to support local food banks.

The 10-day food drive is being held on each campus of the SEC’s member institutions. The drive begins Sept. 17 and continues until Sept. 26 with all items collected donated to the local agencies.

“We are proud that Razorback student-athletes are reaching out to help through the SEC Together We Can program,” said Jeff Long, vice chancellor and director of athletics. “The canned goods collected as part of this league-wide program will be used to help feed those in need here in Northwest Arkansas. I would encourage all Razorback fans to join our Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, and many other Razorback student-athletes in making a difference in our community.”

The Razorbacks will donate all collections of food to the Northwest Arkansas Food Bank, which serves area communities.

Fans can bring a canned food donation to Razorback home events, starting with the Friday, Sept. 17, soccer match with St. Mary’s.

The drive continues at the Arkansas-Georgia football game on Saturday, with collection receptacles placed at several gates at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium.

The on-campus part of the drive concludes with the Razorback volleyball match against Auburn on Sept. 19, with receptacles at the north and south entrances of Barnhill Arena.

The Razorback athletic department has partnered with Harps Food in the Fayetteville area to establish collection points for canned goods during this 10-day drive. Fans that can’t make it to one of the three designated collection games can drop a donation at Harps locations.

Fans can also join members of several Razorback teams Saturday, Sept. 18, at area Harps Food stores from 9-11 a.m. when they will be collecting donated items.
