Athletic Training Education Students Work With Pro Athletes Over Summer
Kevin Kikugawa, a student in the University of Arkansas graduate athletic training education program, completed a monthlong summer internship with the NFL's Buffalo Bills. Two other students in the program, Adrian Pettaway and Kurt Andrews, worked with the San Diego Chargers and the L.A. Galaxy, respectively.

Adrian Pettaway's favorite pro football team is the Philadelphia Eagles, but he had the opportunity to get closely acquainted with a number of San Diego Chargers through a summer internship. Kevin Kikugawa became a fan of the Buffalo Bills while he spent a month working with the team, and his roommate, Kurt Andrews, logged three months as an intern with the L.A. Galaxy, soccer team of the international superstar David Beckham.
The three are students in the graduate athletic training education program in the College of Education and Health Professions. During their monthlong internships, Pettaway and Kikugawa were awarded the Professional Football Athletic Trainers Society Ethnic Minority Scholarship.
The scholarship recognizes athletic training students for their maturity, leadership, work ethic and abilities while completing internships at National Football League training camps and during the preseason.
