Global Campus in Rogers Offers Fall Classes for Accountants

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Enrollment is now open for three continuing professional education courses for certified public accountants through the University of Arkansas Global Campus in Rogers. Courses will cost $249 each and will cover contemporary tax and ethics issues.

Online registration is available through the Global Campus website.

The courses, times, dates and course descriptions include:

  • Tax Strategies & Planning, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 15 H. Ric Hedges, C.P.A, J.D., will discuss tax planning, research and strategies for existing and new businesses. This course will examine the role of tax planning, the importance of ethics in tax planning, and the process of evaluating business decisions as they relate to tax principles. Tax strategies for existing businesses will cover tax income, incentives of business investment decisions, consequences of pass-through entities, and the tax treatment of distributions to owners. Tax strategies for new businesses will include comparing business forms, understanding how tax strategies impact business decisions, examining tax consequences of alternative compensation agreements, and weighing the risks associated with tax strategies.
  • Ethics, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Friday, Nov. 19H. Ric Hedges, CP.A., J.D., will define ethics as it applies to accountants and their clients. This insightful, practical course will detail how ethics applies specifically to accounting and business. Participants will study the risks and consequences of unethical conduct and will learn how to avoid pitfalls.
  • Current Tax Issues, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Friday, Dec. 10Guyton Gagliardi, M.S.T, C.P.A., C.I.A., will examine current tax issues and discuss how proposed legislation and guidelines could influence future accounting practices. The course will consider current tax cuts and potential tax change legislation, contemporary issues impacting high-wealth individuals, and the latest issues impacting partnerships and limited liability corporations. Discussions will also include compliance with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act for tax professionals.
