Musical Siblings Present Program of Liszt Duets
Jura Margulis and his sister, Alissa Margulis, will perform a violin and piano recital of works by composer Franz Liszt at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 7 in the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall at the University of Arkansas. The concert is free and the public is welcome. A reception will follow the concert.
Jura Margulis is a world-renowned pianist and professor in the university’s music department. Alissa Margulis recently joined the faculty of the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp as professor of violin, making her one of Europe’s youngest music professors. She began performing publically when she was 7, and has played in concert halls around the world. She is known for her expressive and emotional performance style.
Jura and Alissa Margulis have performed the Liszt program on many occasions, and in 2011 they plan to record a CD of their duets for the bicentennial celebration of Liszt’s birth.
