This photo by Sarah Anderson is one of six award-winning photographs by University of Arkansas students chosen as finalists for Photographer’s Forum.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Six students were chosen as finalists in the 31st Annual Student Photography Contest sponsored by Photographer’s Forum magazine and Nikon, USA. The photographs of Yasmine Omari, Amber Sinclair, Hunter Alexander, Sarah Anderson, Lauren Amos and Gina Bargiachi will appear in the Best of College Photography 2011.

All are art/photography majors in the J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Arkansas except Omari, who is earning a minor in art.

The magazine runs the contest each fall and awards first through fourth place, honorable mentions, and finalists, whose works are then published the following June. More than 900 colleges participate in the college photography contest, the largest in the United States. Best of College Photography is distributed to subscribers, contest entrants and college libraries in the United States and Canada.

Photographer’s Forum is an award-winning magazine produced for emerging professional photographers. Prominent photographers who have been showcased in interviews and retrospectives include Ansel Adams, Diane Arbus, Robert Frank, Mary Ellen Mark, Steve McCurry, Arnold Newman and Helmut Newton.
