Roy Reed Lecture on Wednesday, April 6, at Alumni House
Dean Baquet, Washington bureau chief for The New York Times, will present the annual Roy Reed Lecture, sponsored by the Walter J. Lemke department of journalism, at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 6, at the Janelle Y. Hembree Alumni House.
Baquet is a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and has held positions at The New York Times, Los Angeles Times, and The Chicago Tribune. In 2007 Baquet was named Washington bureau chief for The New York Times.
The Roy Reed Lecture Series in journalism honors Roy Reed, who reported for The New York Times from 1965 to 1978 and was a University of Arkansas journalism professor from 1978 to 1995.
In recent years, the Roy Reed lecture has featured Shankar Vedantam, and Philip Bruce. Vedantam is the author of The Hidden Brain and a columnist for The Washington Post. Bruce is a University of Arkansas alumnus and was manager of National Public Radio West at the time.
The lecture is free and open to the public. The Janelle Y. Hembree Alumni House is on the southwest corner of Maple Street and Razorback Road.
