Chartwells Higher Education Dining Services at the University of Arkansas and Lewis & Clark Outfitters came together in April to promote healthy eating and exercise to students during final exams. The purpose was to help students make the connection that their diet and activity can affect how they feel, look and perform.

Chartwells was pleased to launch the new Balanced U health and wellness program at Razorback Dining this semester. Balanced U was designed to provide healthy meals and educational wellness tools to engage students and faculty about healthier lifestyle dining options provided within campus dining operations. Balanced U promotes healthy whole foods and helps identify those foods that assist with boosting immunity, may increase or restore energy or reduce stress to enhance study sessions.

Students were offered different food items to sample from Balanced U menus and could register to win one of the prizes available in three separate campus dining halls. Lewis & Clark Outfitters provided three Giant bicycles as contest prizes. Students responded positively to the promotion and contest. Chartwells and Lewis & Clark Outfitters would like to congratulate Mitchell Ackerman, Blake Harrison and Blake Johnson, all students at the University of Arkansas, for being the lucky winners.

Students utilize cycling as a green form of transportation, recreation and exercise on Fayetteville’s extensive trail system. During the month-long promotion, campus events and special displays centered on healthy eating, exercise and bike safety. Chartwells is pleased to provide the Balanced U program and contribute toward the health and wellness of students at the university.
