Arkansas Alumnus Invites Students to Be Among the First Users of Nyoombl

Oladayo Olagunju wants to democratize conversations. Olagunju, who received bachelor’s degrees in computer science and computer engineering, electrical engineering and economics from the University of Arkansas in 2005, is the founder of Nyoombl Inc., a Silicon Valley-based company. The company’s website allows users to have and broadcast live video conversations.
Nyoombl (pronounced “nimble”), which Olagunju describes as “a hybrid of Skype and YouTube,” is a website where any two people with internet access and webcams can have a public conversation. “It allows any two people, regardless of location, to have a debate or interview and take it public,” explained Olagunju. “The news does this, and now anyone can do it.”
Access to Nyoombl is by invitation only. Olagunju is in the process of rolling out his website to U.S. universities, and he is giving early access only to a select few campuses, which he calls “schools I think rock.” This list currently includes Duke, Stanford and the University of Arkansas. Olagunju, who is originally from Nigeria, calls Arkansas his American home, and has fond memories of the time he spent at the University of Arkansas.
