Associate Professor for the School of Social Work Awarded More Than $57,000 for Graduate Scholarships

Marcia Shobe, associate professor for the School of Social Work at the University of Arkansas, has been awarded over $57,000 in graduate student scholarships from the Health Resources and Services Administration for the 2011-12 academic year.

Since joining the faculty at the University of Arkansas in 2007, Shobe has obtained more than $400,000 in graduate scholarship funds for social work students. The Health Resources and Services Administration scholarships help offset graduate tuition and other costs of attendance for the university's students pursuing a Master in Social Work.

Eligibility for the Health Resources and Services Administration scholarship is based on full-time matriculation status, disadvantaged background, and/or demonstrated financial need. The goal of the scholarship program is to provide financial support for low-income, racially and ethnically diverse social work graduate students who, following graduation, will help offset health and mental health disparities in the state of Arkansas through social work professional practice.
