Student Academic Achievements Recognized on University Website

The names of all University of Arkansas students who graduated in May 2011 and those who earned a place on the Chancellor’s or Dean’s lists for the spring 2011 semester, are now posted on the university’s Academic Achievement webpage. The page is part of the Arkansas Newswire website, linked from the University of Arkansas homepage.

A total of 2,421 students graduated from the university in May; 1,558 undergraduates were named to the Chancellor’s List for the spring semester; 1,977 students are on the Dean’s Lists for their respective colleges; and 215 students are on the Law School Dean’s List.

To be on the Chancellor’s List a student must earn a 4.0 grade point average for 12 or more course hours in a semester. Students in the top 10 percent of their college, for 12 or more course hours, are named to their college’s Dean’s List. Undergraduates on the Chancellor’s List are automatically also on the Dean’s List.

The Law School Dean’s List is made up of students who earn a 3.0 grade point average for the semester for a minimum of 12 credit hours in the School of Law.

“Nothing is more important to the U of A than student success,” said John Diamond, associate vice chancellor for university relations. “These particular students have achieved an especially high level of success, and it’s something we want to acknowledge and showcase.  Historically we have shared these lists of academic achievement with the news media in addition to notifying the students themselves. This website provides an additional means of showcasing these students with the public as well as giving them and their family and friends a way to search and see the accomplishment online.

“These students deserve to be proud of their accomplishments,” Diamond added. “We hope this website is one more way for us to show we are proud of them as well.”

The students’ names are listed on the webpage in alphabetical order in all four achievement lists. The webpage can also be searched by the categories of hometown, county, state, or college.
