University of Arkansas Ranks 19th for Articles Published by Subject Specialist Librarians
An analysis by Tony Stankus and Amy Hardin reveals that the University of Arkansas is ranked 19th nationally (tied with Yale University and the University of Arizona at Tucson) for the number of substantive papers of research and professional practice published by subject specialist librarians in leading journals from 2000 to 2010.
This accomplishment has been recognized by the Special Libraries Association, which has more than 11,000 members in 80 countries. Stankus and Hardin’s research revealed that “librarians at schools with large endowments and/or enrollments are most likely to publish, particularly if it is required for tenure and promotion.”
