University of Arkansas Childcare Study Launched

The University of Arkansas Staff Senate, Arkansas Women’s Commission, and the chancellor’s office have teamed up to produce a survey assessing the childcare needs of the entire campus community.

All students, staff and faculty are invited to take part in the survey, which was sent on Thursday morning to your University of Arkansas email address. Please click the link provided in the e-mail sent to your email account on Sept. 8 to access the survey. As a participant, you will be asked general questions about your current childcare, costs, present needs and factors you consider when selecting a childcare provider. Because this is a childcare needs assessment, even students and employees who do not have children or anticipate having a future childcare need are highly encouraged to take the survey.

The information gathered will be reported to the administration to help them make informed decisions and generate new ideas to better serve the needs of the campus.

Lisa Frye, chair of Staff Senate’s Internal Affairs Committee, said, “It is important to participate as data gathered in this survey provides the administration with a window into what the current needs of the campus community are and provides a direct look into where the needs will be in the future.” She added, “By taking part in this survey, participants will be helping to shape the ideas and direction that University leadership will take to address the child care needs of the campus community.”

Individuals can only take the survey once, and confidentiality is guaranteed to the extent of the law and university policy. The survey will take approximately 3-15 minutes to complete, but please begin the survey only when you have time to answer it — you cannot re-enter the survey once you have closed your browser. Make your voice and your opinions count by helping to take part in this important study.
