Experiment Station Director Finalist Gives Public Presentation

Allen "Rick" Bennett, one of five finalists for the position of associate vice president for agriculture and director of the Arkansas Agricultural Experiment Station in the University of Arkansas System's statewide Division of Agriculture, will give a seminar on "Arkansas Agriculture Opportunities and Challenges – The Way Forward," at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14, in Hembree Auditorium, AFLS Building. Bennett is professor and head of the University of Arkansas department of plant pathology.

The first presentation on Sept. 8 was by Patrick D. Colyer, interim associate director of the Louisiana Agricultural Experiment Station. He is regional director and professor, northwest region, LSU Red River Research Station at Bossier City. His presentation was on “Engaging the Future: Strengthening Research in Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources.”

Other presentations are all set for 2 p.m. on the dates listed in Leland Tollett Auditorium, Poultry Science Center.

  • Sept. 20: Clarence E. Watson Jr., associate director and chief operating officer of the Oklahoma Agricultural Experiment Station. “Vision for Agricultural Research in the Land-Grant University System.”
  • Oct. 4: Reuben B. Moore, associate director of the Mississippi Agricultural and Forestry Experiment Station. "My Vision For The Arkansas Agricultural Experiment Station.”
  • Oct. 11: Steven J. Loring, associate director of the Agricultural Experiment Station at New Mexico State University. “Living in the Future: A Vision for the Agricultural Experiment Station.”
