Walton College Once Again Ranked Among Top 50 Business Schools

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – For the Sam M. Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas to be once again ranked among the nation’s top 50 business schools by U.S. News and World Report is indicative of a record of excellence over the past several years, Dean Dan L. Worrell said.

The Walton College is ranked in the top 50 among public and private undergraduate business schools in the nation and in the top 30 among public business colleges, according to the U.S. News and World Report 2012 “America’s Best Colleges.”

The ranking among the best business schools in the country reflects the continued success of the Walton College’s academic, research and outreach programs. “The U.S. News and World Report rankings show the sustained excellence of the Walton College over a long period of time,” Worrell said. “The rankings reflect the positive perception held by academic business deans across the nation of our program over a period of seven years.”

Since the 2006 report, the Walton College ranking among public undergraduate business schools has averaged in the top 25, and the school has an average rating over that period that puts it in the top 42 among public and private institutions.

“Our trend over that period is a very positive one,” Worrell said.

Walton College was among nine public and private undergraduate business colleges tied at 46th in the annual assessment. Among the top public undergraduate business schools, the Walton College was tied at 27th with five schools: Auburn University, University of Oklahoma, University of Oregon, University of Tennessee and Virginia Tech.

Walton College was tied for fourth in the rankings among business schools in the Southeastern Conference, behind the University of Florida, University of Georgia and University of South Carolina.

The U.S. News rankings are determined through a survey, which each year asks business school deans and senior faculty to rate the approximately 457 U.S. public and private undergraduate business programs accredited by the AACSB International – the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.
