A Message Regarding Sexual Harassment and Related Campus Policies

The University of Arkansas strongly opposes discrimination, sexual harassment and sexual violence.

As the new semester is getting under way, we want to remind students, faculty and staff of some key policies:

  1. Federal and state law and university policy prohibit sexual harassment and any other form of discrimination based on age, race, national origin, disability, religion, marital and parental status and veteran’s status. University policy also prohibits discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation.
  2. If you are a witness to possible sexual harassment or discrimination or believe that you have been sexually harassed or discriminated against, please immediately contact Jenifer S. Tucker, compliance officer, office of affirmative action, 346 N. West Avenue, (West Avenue Annex). Tucker may be reached at 479-575-4019 or via email at jstucker@uark.edu. Should such incidents take place, we want to address the situation and prevent further occurrences.
  3. The university policy regarding sexual harassment can be found at the following sites:
  4. The university has designated Tucker as its Title IX coordinator with overall responsibility for oversight of the university’s compliance with its obligations under Title IX, including, but not limited to, investigating and responding to alleged of sexual assault.
  5. For allegations of sexual assault by faculty, staff or other persons (other than students), the Title IX coordinator works with UAPD and the University Health Center to ensure that allegations reported to UA officials are investigated and addressed, as appropriate, through UA personnel processes.
  6. For allegations of sexual assault by students, the director of the university’s office of academic integrity and student conduct, Dr. Monica Holland, Arkansas Union 634, 479-575-5170, works with UAPD and the University Health Center to ensure that allegations reported to university officials are investigated and that allegations are processed through the university student judicial process, as appropriate.

Please help create a safe and respectful learning and working environment for all members of the university community.
