Building a Class Schedule Just Got Easier

Building a class schedule has just become a lot easier for University of Arkansas students. Enrollment Services is releasing a Schedule Planner, a new Web-based class scheduling tool that will allow students to quickly generate a class schedule based on their preferred courses and time commitments. For instance, students can set when they want their classes to start, block out time for breaks, activities, work, or athletics, and set when they want their last classes to end. The Schedule Planner will then generate all possible schedules for the selected classes based on the time blocks.

The new scheduler will be an important tool during orientation when large numbers of students are scheduling courses each day during June, reducing frustration for incoming students.

"Orientation and priority registration will be a more enjoyable experience for students and advisers," said Suzanne McCray, vice provost for enrollment. "The program will speed the process, helping students quickly understand what classes are available at what times. The planner will also help us spread students out more evenly across courses."

"We are excited about the Schedule Planner because we think this tool will greatly assist students in building a schedule that best meets their needs and wants," said Dave Dawson, associate vice provost for enrollment services and registrar. "It basically replaces the manual task of using a pencil and daily grid to schedule classes. The Schedule Planner automates this process and generates every possible schedule for the selected criteria, and it does it in seconds," Dawson said.
