Chemical Engineering Distinguished Lecture Series Tonight

The Ralph E. Martin Department of Chemical Engineering Distinguished Lecture Series presents Krista Walton of the Georgia Institute of Technology, who will present "Inorganic-Organic Hybrids: Engineering a New Class of Porous Materials," Tuesday, Oct. 4 in BELL 2269.

Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are inorganic-organic hybrids that represent a new direction in porous materials research. Walton's presentation will introduce this new class of materials and discuss current research in this emerging area. Specific discussion will center on factors contributing to water sensitivity of MOFs and on the effect of pore size, unsaturated metal sites, and functionalized ligands on the adsorption of various gases. The implications of these results for impacting adsorption applications such as separations, catalysis, and controlled storage and release will also be discussed.

For more information, visit the department's Website or contact Jamie Hestekin.

The event is open to the public.
