Connie Jackson will present a lecture titled “Context” at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 24, at Hembree Auditorium, Room 107E in the Agricultural, Food, and Life Sciences Building on the University of Arkansas campus, as part of the Fay Jones School of Architecture lecture series. Jackson is principal-in-charge and design director at Wilson Associates in Dallas, Texas.

Her talk will focus on hospitality projects and understanding their context. She’ll address how to break down a large scale project so that it becomes more manageable, as well as the steps needed to work in a setting or location in a different country where the language spoken is not your own. She’ll also present what she’s learned in designing a project for a specific client, given cultural, social, physical, emotional, aesthetic differences and influences. Whether it’s an urban setting or a more natural setting, designers much create projects that complement the location and fulfill each client’s design needs.

Jackson has a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design from Texas Christian University. She is currently a member of the American Society of Interior Designers and has served on its State Board of Directors. She has served on the Design Advisory Board for B.F. Goodrich Company and taught at the University of Texas. She serves on the Texas Christian University Design Advisory Board and has been a visiting professor at Texas Christian University.
